CDF’s modern dance curriculum is influenced by a wide range of dance and movement techniques: Humphrey/Limon, Graham, Horton, Cunningham and Laban/Bartenieff. CDF’s teaching artists bring a unique and personal approach to their teaching, emphasizing body and spatial awareness, physical strength and endurance, rhythmic accuracy, improvisation and the fundamentals of composition/choreography. The combination of movement awareness and technical skills along with practice in improvisation and composition exposes students to the core values of modern dance.
