CDF Upper School classes are student-centered and inclusive of all learning styles. They celebrate each individual by encouraging creative thinking and individual expression through dance.
Students may choose from the following Upper School Classes. While not required, dancers greatly benefit from taking two or more classes per week. Taking more than one class per week also prepares dancers to be part of CDF's Student Ensemble Program when they reach the 6th grade.

Ballet
Modern
Jazz
Tap
Student Ensemble
Goals for the Upper School Student:
- To broaden the students knowledge of the body and the movement it is capable of performing, according to its anatomical structure and physical laws of motion;
- To improve strength, flexibility, endurance and coordination;
- To encourage creative thinking, individual expression;
- To build self confidence;
- To experience joy in moving;
- To develop an ability to lead, follow and evaluate with objectivity
Class Attire:
Students are expected to be in the appropriate dancewear for every class. Students should also have all hair tightly secured away from the face. If hair is short, it should be pulled back in a headband. You can shop for dance wear at CDF or at Applause Dancewear in Homewood. A student will not be allowed into class without the appropriate dancwear and hair neatly secured away from the face. Students may ask to borrow dancewear from the front desk if they have forgotten theirs.
Leotard in assigned color:
